Internship Opportunities at HVCCA

Fulfill internship requirements or gain valuable museum experience assisting the region's most dynamic contemporary art space.

The Hudson Valley Center for Contemporary Art opened to the public on June 12, 2004, though interns have participated since 2003. Internships have been completed by students from Barnard College, New York University, SUNY Purchase College, Westchester Community College and the College of New Rochelle. HVCCA is an exciting young institution featuring cutting edge contemporary art.

Students are able to receive hands on experience in:
  • Artist contacts, lectures
  • Exhibition docent
  • Collections management
  • Art storage
  • Art handling
  • Art conservation
  • Curatorial programs
  • Exhibition installation Data base systems
Meetings with and the ability to assist artists of international repute enhance the program.

The opportunity to work on the development of the citywide arts festival, The Peekskill Project, offers interns experience in communal cooperation and the chance to coordinate with younger artists working with experimental and ephemeral projects, performances and happenings.

All of these experiences have helped our interns in securing excellent positions after their internship ended. In some instances, positions were made available at HVCCA.

To apply for an HVCCA internship:
  • Enclose a bio
  • Enclose a cover letter
  • State when you would be available to begin the internship, and any time constraints as to days off, availability and length of internship you foresee.
  • Enclose two personal letters of reference, preferably from one of your current professors/instructors, and a previous position held.
